Planning and Water Appeals Commissions

The Planning Appeals Commission (PAC) and Water Appeals Commission (WAC) are statutory independent appellate bodies provided for in Article 110 of the Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1991 and of the Water and Sewerage Services (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 respectively. All Commissioners have professional qualifications in either planning or related disciplines and are appointed by the First Minister and deputy First Minister. Commissioners are not civil servants but are statutory office holders.
