Civil Service Reform in Northern Ireland

A major programme of reform is now underway across all departments in the Northern Ireland Civil Service.  The Civil Service Reform Programme includes everything from making significant savings in procurement which can be released to front line services, to improving a range of corporate services like records management, accounts, human resources and accommodation.

In June 2009, the Head of the Northern Ireland Civil Service, Bruce Robinson, was invited by the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, to present a case study on Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) reform.  The 11 NICS departments have been working to deliver a step change in the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of services through an ambitious reform programme, to deliver better public services for the citizen.  View Bruce Robinson's presentation in full.
