Draft PPS 1 (Revised) Planning for Sustainable Development

This project is to revise and update Planning Policy Statement (PPS) 1 ‘General Principles’ (Published 1998) in order to take account of, and give support to, planning reform proposals.  In particular, revised PPS 1 will reconsider the key themes to underpin delivery of the modern planning system and the core principles to be observed in formulating planning policies, making development plans and exercising development management functions. It is expected that a Consultation Draft PPS 1 (Revised) 'Planning for Sustainable Development' will be issued in the Autumn.

Home Accident Prevention Strategy and Action Plan 2004-2009

The Home Accident Prevention Strategy and Action Plan aims to reduce the number of accidental deaths and injuries in the home. The Strategy will be reviewed during 2010/11 to assess progress towards the Strategy’s aim, targets and actions to help inform the way ahead.

Teenage Pregnancy and Parenthood Strategy and Action Plan 2002-2007

The Department continues to support action in line with the Teenage Pregnancy and Parenthood Strategy which is due for review. The review will assess progress against the Strategy’s aims, targets and actions to inform future plans to integrate action with the Sexual Health Promotion Strategy and Action Plan 2008-2013.

A review of the Warm Homes Scheme

The eligibility criteria for the Warm Homes Scheme changed in July 2009 and a new contract was awarded.  Following a commitment given by Minister Ritchie the scheme will be evaluated after one year to ensure it is fulfilling its objectives.
