Consultations

We recognise the importance of proper consultation and in carrying out our equality duties consults in a timely, open and inclusive way and in accordance with the Equality Commissions guiding principles.  We continue to monitor each of our policies to ensure that as each policy is revised it promotes greater equality of opportunity.  OFMDFM need your views through the consultation process.

In terms of good practice the Equality Commission recommends that public authorities do a forward look of anticipated or forthcoming consultations in an effort to join up consultations and to act as an alert of forthcoming work to our Section 75 stakeholders.

The consultation exercises list is updated twice a year by the department.

The Equality Commission also recommends that public authorities publish a list of those policies which were equality screened to allow stakeholders or interested parties the opportunity to scutinize their screening decisions.  We also undertake this exercise twice a year.
