Community Relations Council

The Community Relations Council (CRC) external website is responsible for administering the Victims and Survivors Groups' Core Funding Scheme - 2003 to 2007 on our behalf.
CRC is also responsible for the administration of a Victims/Survivors Groups’ Development Grants Scheme on our behalf. This fund is targeted at supporting groups which are made up of victims, or are working with victims.
CRC, with the support of Government, has established a fund of approximately £400,000 to spend each year on community relations projects. This funding is intended to help community/voluntary groups throughout Northern Ireland develop their capacity to engage in community relations work and to enhance the community relations potential of projects they undertake.

Community Foundation for Northern Ireland

The Community Foundation for Northern Ireland external website is responsible for the management of a specific measure for victims with funding of £6.1 million under the auspices of the European Programme for Peace and Reconciliation. Peace II addresses specific needs relating to activities such as reskilling and retraining, re-assimilation into the community and counselling and befriending. A consortium led by the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland (formerly known as NIVT) was appointed as an Intermediary Funding Body responsible for the distribution of these funds.

The Northern Ireland Memorial Fund

The Memorial Fund is an independent charity which operates eight schemes to support those who have suffered as a result of the conflict in Northern Ireland:-
  • Small Grants Scheme;
  • Short Break Scheme;
  • Chronic Pain Management Scheme;
  • Amputee Assessment Scheme;
  • Wheelchair Assessment Scheme;
  • Educational and Training Scheme;
  • Back to School Grant; and
  • Discretionary Hardship Scheme

Other possible sourses of funding

Additional support is also provided by other public sector organisations and bodies,including Trusts and the National Lottery, which are open to a wide variety of organisations. The Community Relations Council’s website external website gives some very useful information and contacts for these sources.

Awards for All

This is a joint awards programme set up to help small local community groups in Northern Ireland with awards between £500 and £5000. It is designed primarily to support groups with an annual income of under £15,000, although groups with a larger income may be considered. Funding is not available for individuals.

NICVA Grant Tracker

The Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA) external website has developed an interactive software package called Grant Tracker external website that contains information on sources of funding available to the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland. Users will be able to shortlist potential funders that match their project's funding requirements. The overall aim of Grant Tracker is to provide and maintain a single reference tool containing up to date information on funders with an interest in and responsibility towards supporting the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland.
