Human Rights Seminars

OFMDFM has been running a series of Human Rights Awareness Seminars for NICS staff across all 11 departments. Presentations were given by Peter O'Neill (NI Human Rights Commission); Joe Ferguson (PSNI); Mary Kerr (Amnesty International); Patricia Carey (OFMdFM) and Dale Heaney (OFMdFM). These presentations are available below.
The following spreadsheets provide details of the Question and Answer section of the Human Rights Seminars held on Monday 10 and Wednesday 12 November 2008. There was a very high percentage of right answers provided by the majority of those who attended.
91% of attendees on Monday and 89% of attendees on Wednesday scored 60% or higher. Of those, 13% on Monday and 12% on Wednesday scored 90% or higher.
In terms of their comments on the seminar itself:
·77% (on Mon) and 68% (on Wed) felt that the seminar met their needs (Well or Very Well).
·53% (on Monday and Wednesday) thought a combination of training delivery should be used to follow-up the seminar.
·The next most popular option was more specific training with 22% selecting this option on Monday and 34% on Wednesday.
We will follow-up the seminars in discussions with CAL and would hope to issue the Human Rights Questionnaire periodically hence forth.
