Good Relations and Reconciliation Research Programme
Research Branch has responsibility for a wide ranging programme of research on community relations which aims to maintain an up-to-date body of information on the nature and effects of the major divisions in Northern Ireland and evaluate, assess and report on the impact of Government’s policies.
The Branch commissions policy relevant research and the priority research themes are:
- Theme 1 – community relations practice;
- Theme 2 – post violence relationships;
- Theme 3 – social and community impacts of inter-communal division;
- Theme 4 – minority ethnic communities;
- Theme 5 – monitoring and evaluation of projects and programmes;
- Theme 6 – dissemination.
How to apply for Good Relations Research Funding
Research Branch commissions new research projects by:
- commissioning specific pieces of research via open competitive tenders and;
- through unsolicited bids relevant to the themes above.
A blank form to apply for research funding is available for completion online. Simply fill it in and e-mail or post it back. You will be informed in writing if you have been successful or unsuccessful. If unsuccessful, you will advised of the reasons why.
Proposals are assessed against the following evaluation criteria:
- Policy relevance of the research;
- Cost and value for money;
- Consistency with research priorities;
- Contribution to understanding/added value;
- Appropriateness of the methodology;
- Demonstrated ability of the proposers and
- Timescales
