Terms of Reference

Function

The Sustainable Development Implementation Plan Steering Group (‘the Steering Group’) is an informal and ad hoc high-level forum, under the joint chairmanship of  Junior Ministers from within OFMDFM, to facilitate the implementation of the sustainable development priorities identified in the Sustainable Development Strategy and Programme for Government.  The Steering Group will advise on the structure and prioritisation of sustainability targets and provide a channel of communication between the Implementation Plan Project Team and stakeholders.  The Steering Group will also assist the project to achieve a high profile in the wider community.

Powers

The group is advisory and has no statutory powers

Timings

The Steering group may be convened at any time by the joint Chairmen.  It is anticipated that the Steering Group will meet on a monthly basis during the development stage of the Implementation Plan.  The timing of any meetings after publication of the Implementation Plan will be at the discretion of OFMDFM.

Duration

OFMDFM will keep the existence of the Steering Group under review and determine any requirement for continuation.

Membership

Membership of the Steering Group is by invitation of the joint Chairmen.  Membership can be changed at any time by OFMDFM, and individual members may resign from the Steering Group without notice.  Membership is voluntary and without remuneration.  The size of the Steering Group will not exceed eleven members, including the joint Chairmen and a Senior Official.
