The Sustainable Development Champions Network is the primary mechanism for cross-departmental coordination and communication on sustainable development.
Sustainable Development Champions
Each Department has a nominated Champion at a senior level who acts as the primary point of contact for sustainable development issues within their Department.
The Champions are:

- John Cole, Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS)
- David Ferguson, Department for Social Development (DSD)
- Andrew Hamilton, Department for Employment and Learning (DEL)
- Anthony Harbinson, Department of Justice (DOJ)
- David Thomson, Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI)
- Philip Irwin, Department of Finance and Personnel (DFP)
- Edgar Jardine, Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DCAL)
- Alan Maitland, Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister (OFMDFM)
