The Sustainable Development Champions Network is the primary mechanism for cross-departmental coordination and communication on sustainable development.

Sustainable Development Champions

Each Department has a nominated Champion at a senior level who acts as the primary point of contact for sustainable development issues within their Department.

The Champions are:

  • Doreen Brown, Department for Regional Development (DRD)
  • Mark Browne, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD)
  • John Cole, Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS)
  • David Ferguson, Department for Social Development (DSD)
  • Andrew Hamilton, Department for Employment and Learning (DEL)
  • Anthony Harbinson, Department of Justice (DOJ)
  • David Thomson, Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI)
  • Philip Irwin, Department of Finance and Personnel (DFP)
  • Edgar Jardine, Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DCAL)
  • Alan Maitland, Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister (OFMDFM)
  • John McGrath, Department of Education (DE)
  • Denis McMahon, Department of the Environment (DOE)
