Members of European Parliament (MEP)

736 members of the European Parliament represent almost 500 million European citizens in 27 member states.
Northern Ireland has three elected MEPs.  Government works closely with these parliamentarians, providing departmental policy briefs to ensure that matters of concern to Northern Ireland are raised in the European Parliament.
Following an election on 4 June 2009, the new Parliament will be officially constituted in Strasbourg on July 14-16.
